As Engineering Manager for Inbox, you lead a backend-heavy, mobile-first chat platform that powers high-scale, real-time conversations. You guide a cross-functional team, shape the technical direction, and partner with Product to drive impact and growth. You’ll balance hands-on architectural reviews with people leadership to ensure reliability, scalability, and delivery excellence. This role offers influence over strategic platform evolution and AI-enabled initiatives within a fast-growing product area.

Responsabilidades

Own outcomes for the Inbox team: delivery, quality, reliability, process efficiency, and team health
Lead and grow a cross-functional team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers (6–10 initially)
Address system challenges: improve reliability at scale and reduce architectural friction
Guide architectural direction with senior engineers and tech leads; participate in reviews and major decisions
Champion engineering excellence via SLOs, observability, dashboards, and post-mortems
Collaborate with Product and Design to shape roadmaps and translate user needs into technical plans
Improve execution through rituals, metrics, incident response, and continuous delivery practices
Hire, coach, and develop engineers and emerging leaders; manage performance and growth
Coordinate with peer EMs and unit leadership on platform standards and strategy
Lead the team through organizational scale and evolving customer needs
Contribute to headcount planning and strategic expansion, including AI initiatives

Requisitos principales

Proven success leading product engineering teams at meaningful scale with credible technical background
Experience leading cross-functional teams focused on delivery, quality, and healthy practices
Strong backend architectural thinking for real-time, high-throughput services
Fluency in PHP, Go, Python, or Node.js (backend stack is PHP 8.3)
Track record delivering in collaboration with Product on roadmaps, estimation, and stakeholder management
Excellent people leadership across hiring, feedback, career growth, and succession planning
Ability to unblock teams via hands-on investigation, rapid prototyping, and pragmatic decisions
