Description of the job :
An opportunity has arisen in Airbus Defence and Space in Madrid to join the recently created Future Programs department in Spain.
The mission of the selected candidate will be managing the proposals for launchers shaping the future and supporting the strategy of the company.
Additionally, the candidate will support or manage proposals for technology and/or product developments in line with the company strategy and roadmaps, basically in the aero-structures products domain.
Identifying and meeting the customer's expectations, and positioning Airbus as Launchers structures and separation systems leader in the Institutional (Ariane 6, Vega) and Export (SpaceX, MHI, Spaceflight,...) market will be the main focus of the selected candidate.
Task & accountabilities :
The tasks to be accomplished encompass:
• Managing the elaboration of proposals for future programs, in close coordination with TSEIX and TMS. This implies:
. Taking the ownership of the proposal from the Go / No Go decision until the submission of the proposal and the participation to the eventual negotiation process.
. Coordinating all teams involved in the preparation of the proposal, including engineering, costing, marketing, commercial and contractual interfaces.
. Ensuring a smooth and adequate handover of responsibilities to the nominated study or project manager.
. Depending on the financial envelope of the proposal, the candidate may take full ownership of the costing and commercial aspects of the bid.
• Leading feasibility studies and early development projects, as preparation for future implementation projects
• Supporting TSEA - Spain in the definition of ENS roadmaps in the different domains: Launchers subsystems, New Business, Satellite Structures, Dispensers
• Identifying short and long term opportunities in the institutional, national or export market for the development of the strategy (e.g. identifying relevant ITTs for new missions or technology development), and providing relevant inputs to the KAMs
• Identifying technology roadmaps and R&D funding lines supporting the ENS roadmaps
• Representing TSEA in the BnB decisions in the process of the proposal preparation
• Representing TSEA in the generation of capture plans for ENS campaigns
• Representing TSEA in conducting MG03 / MG04, and in the process of proposal approval
• Keeping an innovative mindset promoting the game challenging ideas: Out of the box thinking
• Promoting and building customer confidence
This role involves regular worldwide travels for business (ca. 1-2 per month).
Required skills :
The following skills are required:
• More than 5 years of experience in Space Systems projects is required.
• Knowledge of engineering processes and methods, as well as engineering management
• Experience in the Launchers domain
• Experience as mechanical engineer is a plus, as well as experience in managing projects / teams
• Experience in working in an international environment and within Airbus group
• Good communication skills with the ability to adapt to different contexts and targets
• Innovation mindset
• Team player
Engineering experience: 5 years
Program/team Management Experience: 1 to 3 yeards
Languages: Spanish and English (Mandatory), French or Italian (Desirable)
